Advancing Creativity and Innovation in Social Care Education and Practice
Creativity and Innovation in Social Care (CISC) is a voluntary and professional educational body committed to the advancement of creativity and innovation in social care education and practice in Ireland to enhance the learning experience for students and improve the delivery of social care. We achieve this by fostering a co-collaborative learning approach, knowledge sharing and creation between academia and social care communities as well as developing new and innovative approaches to teaching and learning and research to enhance professional practice.
Established in 2009 as Creative Studies in Social Care, the network was rebranded Creativity and Innovation in Social Care (CISC) in 2020 to reflect the wider interests and perspectives of our members.
This community of practice (CoP) invites professional educators, from any discipline, who either teach social care creatively and/or teach creativity and arts modules on social care programmes as well as social care workers and other professionals who have an interest in progressing creative and innovative knowledge and ways of working in a social care context.
The network currently has representation from Dundalk IT, ATU Sligo, ATU Mayo, TU Dublin, MTU Kerry, TUS: Midlands Midwest, SETU Wexford, SETU Carlow, SETU Waterford, Carlow College, the Open Training College, a Canadian college, and social care workers. It hopes to involve more institutes of higher education and practitioners working in the social care sector as it progresses further.
